Asian-American & Pacific Islander Solidarity

In response to the recent upsurge in anti-Asian violence and, in particular, the March 2021 mass shooting at three spas in Atlanta, GA, which took the lives of six targeted Asian-American women and two others, a solidarity rally was held in Philadelphia Chinatown, at the plaza at 10th and Vine Streets. Guarded by two massive stone lions and a monument to Lin Zexu, an anti-colonial Chinese hero, speakers of many Asian ethnicities spoke about the the historical record and their personal experiences with racism. The rally on an overcast spring day began with a traditional Lion Dance and ended with a march through Chinatown to City Hall.
